OLD TESTAMENT PROPHECY
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall concieve, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand
Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand. He shall see the travail of his soul and be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquites.
But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be cleam: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols will I cleanse you. A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
GODS NEW TESTAMENT INTENTION TO DELIVER FROM SIN
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have everlasting life, For God sent not his son not his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world, through him, might be saved.
Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole, sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee, go, and sin no more.
For when we were yet without strength in due time Christ died for the ungodly. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have received the atonement.
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we should also walk in newness of life.
Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
1 Cor. 15:34
Awake to righteousness and sin not;
For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
2 Cor. 7:9-11
Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
Oh wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
No man can come to me except the Father which hath sent me draw him:
2 Cor. 6:2
For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee; behold, now is the accepted time; now is the day of salvation.
Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.
The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.
The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say “Lo here!” of “lo there!” for behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
For I am crucified with Christ, nevertheless I live, yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
And of Zion it shall be said, this and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her. The Lord shall count when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there.
Necessity of Belief in God
Without faith is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Necessity of Repentance
Thou believest that there is one God: thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say: Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sin, he is faithful and just forgive us our sin, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Psalm 51:1-4,7-10, 16,17
David’s prayer of repentance
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according to the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. For I acknowledge my transgression: and my sin is ever before me. Against thee, thee only have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest. Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean, wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken my rejoice.
Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all my iniquites. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. For thou desirest not sacrifice; else I would give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
EFFECT OF SALVATION
2 Cor. 5:17
Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away; behold, all things are made new.
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of gaots and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
CONTINUING IN SALVATION
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.
1 Peter 1:15,16
But as he with hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversations.
1 John 2:6
He that saith he abideth in [Christ] ought himself also to walk even as he walked.
If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed.
1 John 2:3
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments
1 John 5:3
For this is the love of God; that we keep his commandments, and his commandments are not grievous.
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free and be not entangled again in the yoke of bondage.
1 Cor. 9:27
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection, lest that by means when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
1 Cor. 3:16,17
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1 Cor. 10:13
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that we ye are able; but will with the temptation make a way for you to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.
1 John 5:4
Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
